ATTORNEY

Dale J. Atkinson is a licensed Utah attorney who received his law degree from Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Oregon, and is now the sole managing member of The Atkinson Firm in Northbrook, Illinois. Mr. Atkinson was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1987. He founded the firm of Atkinson & Atkinson, LLC in Illinois with his father in 1989, with an emphasis of practice in the area of regulatory law. The Atkinson Firm moved to Utah in 2024.

 

Mr. Atkinson represents associations in all matters relating to their operations as not-for-profit corporations, including regulatory activities, education and accreditation, disciplinary actions, model legislation and applications, and all phases of the development and administration of licensure examination programs, licensure transfer programs, licensure credentials verification and storage.

 

He is a frequent speaker before these association clients as well as other regulatory groups, agencies, and stakeholders, and produces numerous writings on these topics for publication. Mr. Atkinson was involved with the Federation of Association of Regulatory Boards for over 30 years, having served as the Executive Director of FARB for over 21 years, providing educational programs for board members, staff, investigators, and attorneys related to regulation in the interest of public protection. Mr. Atkinson continues to dedicate his career to representing not-for-profit associations that provide essential public protection services.

Amy Richardson, JD

On behalf of the Atkinson Firm, it is with great pride and a heavy dose of sorrow that we announce the retirement of Amy Richardson, Esq. After 20+ years of dedicated service to our clients, our staff, and the regulatory community, Amy is retiring from the practice of law to pursue a new business adventure with her husband. Her retirement from the firm is effective June 30, 2026.

There is much to be said about what Amy means to the Atkinson Firm. She exhibits a positive spirit that contributes to the vibe of the firm. That spirit and calm demeanor inspire us to reflect, be grateful, and respect a team dynamic to representing you, our clients. We thank Amy for that presence.

There is also much to be said about what Amy means to our clients. She dedicates herself to the needs of each client and accepts the challenges necessary to provide guidance and advice. We are also tremendously grateful for this service to our clients.

We support the evolution of our personnel and celebrate their accomplishments. There is much to acknowledge, honor, and celebrate as we wish Amy the best in her next chapter.

Julia C. Works, JD

OF COUNSEL

Julia C. Works is an attorney in The Atkinson Firm, where she has been practicing since 1998. She received her law degree at the University of Connecticut (J.D. with Honors, 1996) and her BA in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania (1989) in Philadelphia, PA.

In addition to association law, Ms. Works practices in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and corporate law. Ms. Works is a member of the Illinois Bar Association.

She is also licensed to practice law in Texas and Arkansas.
